Metabolism Slows Down After 40


This question came in in the past week from another site for which I contribute Strength Training commentary, VitalHealthZone.  Given that the writer and I share the same age, I thought it was purposeful to share my response, given perhaps the differences in our perspectives on managing peri-menopause and the required work, nutrition and support of a body over 40+

TRX Freestyle


I hate to tell you because some of you will think I am a wild woman (well maybe a little of that assumption would be quite true) but I love this video workout demonstrating the freestyle use of the TRX.  It actually mirrors many of the moves I use in my own personal workout on a weekly basis; minus of course the pullups.   My workout, however, is preceded by a 20-minute Pilates sequence (Hundreds thru the Teaser). In 90 minutes I am done with the workout, inclusive of 30 minutes of cardio using the spin bike, elliptical or running on the treadmill with my Kangoo Jumps.  I am completely...

Very Cool!


Very cool, I think, for making so much heat and fire inside.  Just a few of my friends, neighbors and students doing what we do when "we" workout.   Inside, outside, group or private, using the core abdominal to perform every activity is the best way to stay fired up and ready to work, burn and move.  What does your workout look like?           Check the video and see how many faces you recognize.  Tell me what you think about some of these moves.        

Challenging Abdominals


Sixty minutes? Work my abdominals for a “full 60 minutes?” I’ll bet you are thinking Jesh! Isn’t that too much time? Actually, if all you were doing were crunches and sit-ups, it would most definitely be a bit too much and you would probably see diminishing returns as well. Read on, as I have another way and another suggestion.
