Papaya and Protein

I have increased my protein intake significantly to support my increased activity levels.  I am eating more quality proteins to support my lean muscle development.  Just trying to kick it up a notch.  Important for muscle as much as it is for women over 40 and particularly so for postmenopausal women.

[SinglePic not found]Well, in doing so, I knew I needed a lot more fiber and enzymes that would help to breakdown the protein in my body.  You’ve got it!  My cravings have been for Papaya.

Papaya contains papain, a remarkable, protein-dissolving enzyme that eases many stomach ailments and is an exceptional aid to digestion. A rich source of minerals and vitamins A, C and E, papain also breaks down wheat gluten, which may be of great help those with Celiac disease.[SinglePic not found]

I scoop out the seeds and get a spoon and eat one half of the fruit as if it were ice cream!  Although, occassionally I get a seed or two and find they taste a little peppery and not bad as a contrast to the sweetness of the fruit.

They can be expensive little buggers, when purchased in the grocery store.  However, I have found them at half the price ($2.88/each) at Sam’s Club and have started buying a week’s work.

The nutritional value of the fruit is perfect and highly recommended to putting Vit C and A in your diet. Share this with a friend via email: eMail
